The People's Museum is a series on BBC Television which is constructing
a virtual museum: http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/

At the end of every hour-long programme, the audience votes on which of
four very diverse objects should be placed in the museum.

Yesterday, to my surprise, one of the objects was the humble-looking
"Kitchener Camp Review" and today I heard that it had won [I had voted
for it and asked other UK siggers to join me!]. The Journals now have a
place in the virtual museum.

I would like to think that our SIG played a part in this success.

see http://tinyurl.com/hp785 to read about Kitchener's Camp which housed
many refugees >from the geographic area covered by our SIG.

We cannot see much of their contents on the internet so hopefully one
day they will be scanned. If not, we will have to travel to the Guildhall
Museum, Sandwich to look at them:
