I'm wondering if it was really possible for someone to leave the Russian
Empire without a passport, and still be able to leave Europe?
My grandmother, Eva (Reisel) BOYARSKY, supposed left Grodno by "sneaking
across the border". She and her brother walked to Berlin, and sailed to
the U.S. via Bremen.
Could they have done this without any identifying papers?
