if Selig Goldschmidt's biography with Tedesco from Baden near Wien is not relevant, so also the former name Deutsch is probably not relevant. I think any German speaking Jew coming to Italy with or without a fixed last name might end up with the name Tedesco.
Quite a few Jews from Hohenems moved to Italy (Trieste I know for sure). They would have been Austrians.
