Re: Hebrew or Yiddish equivalents for George #general

Have you thought of "Girsh" or "Gershom?" I am sure others will submittoggle quoted messageShow quoted text
As an example in our family, and many others I am sure, the
grandchildren of Rabbi Leib TALALAY and his wife Minya, Mogilev,
Belarus, have a heavy preponderance of Leibs and Minyas. In another
case, someone's wife was Gitta, every girl born to her four sons was
named Gitta (in America however they became Gussie and Gertrude, etc.).
In my experience, this is a common naming pattern.
George was perhaps the closest (and most fashionable at the time!) name
Morris could come up with.
