My husband's paternal grandparents were Adolf BUCHWERK (b. 1882) (instructor
in Sadgura, Ukraine), son of Samuel BUCHWERK and Mittie (nee KUPLER), and
Regina (b. 1884), daughter of Eisig Leib SALOMON and Sara (nee MAULER) of
Kossow (not sure which one).

There is a family rumor that the surname BUCHWERK was a 19th century
bureaucratic corruption of BUCHBERG. I suppose that is a possibility, as
one of the witnesses on a French translation of my father-in-law's birth
record was listed as Samuel Bucheberg of Czernowitz.
