Piliavin (or variation on the name)--any living in the former USSR #general

I know of a Zelda whose maiden name was Piliavin; I don't know her married
name. She had at least two children, a son and a daughter; in 1972 the
daughter was in her mid-30's. Most of her family immigrated to the United
States early in the 20th century, but she was never able to. The surname is
extremely unusual in the States and everyone I've heard of who bears it (or
did, in the case of women who married and changed it) is in all likelihood
related to me (and each other) in some way. Zelda had a cousin or, more
likely, half sister named Sonya, who was my maternal grandmother.
