Czestochowa Ghetto surnames #general

Hafcjf@...

After receiving so many favorable comments about the list of NY surnames
from Abraham Cahan's articles, I thought I'd pass upon some additional
surnames.

Recently I checked out the book Yad Vashem Studies on the European Jewish
Catastrophe, Volume VI, edited by Nathan Eck and Aryeh Leon Kubovy,
published in Jerusalem, in 1967. The text is in English.

One of the chapters is "Daily Record Sheet of the Jewish Police (District
I) in the Czestochowa Ghetto 1941-1942," by William Glicksman. It includes
the following surnames. They include the names of police, people filing
complaints for offences against property, quarrels between Jews, accidents
and miscellaneous incidents, arrests for peddling, arrests for failure to
pay taxes, reports of destruction of Jewish property, stealing >from Jews,
swindling of Jews and attacks on Jews. Warning: you could find out
something unflattering about one of your ancestors.

If you're researching one of these surnames, you may want to check your
library for the book or request it through inter-library loan.
