Re: Family disinterest #general

I know how you feel. I mailed 40 letters to people in Israel with my
mgrandparents' uncommon surnames and only three were kind enough to reply to
say they are not related. I even included my e address to save those who have
computers, the time and cost of mailing me back. It only takes two minutes to
write back and say "sorry no match". I am very disappointed. I certainly
didn't expect 100% responses, but I didn't expect so little either.

I'm happy to report far better luck with persons I've never met-- in
countries such as England, Australia and New Zealand. This could perhaps
be a function of cultural differences between English-speaking countries
and some of the other countries to which people have written.

Also, I have wondered whether some people ignore letters >from strangers
claiming to be relatives out of fear that their correspondent may be after
their money!
