Is there some good information about the presence of Jews as bootleggers
during Prohibition? Not stuff about Bugsy Siegel, or any of the famous
Jewish gangsters, but the rest of them? I know that my grandfather and his
brothers ran alcohol through Canada to Wisconsin (and then later became
legal, I guess). Most of this material is/was hush-hush in the family of
course.
For the (mostly legal) Western Canadian side of this trade, see "Booze:
The Impact of Whisky on the Prairie West" by James H. Gray, Macmillan 1972,
ISBN 0770508936. Quite a number of Jewish names involved here, the most
famous of course being Bronfman.
