As far as I know, a Feldsherr was a German military title, the rank
being of a field marshal or something close to that.

Wrong, a feldsher is an army medical orderly who was trained to perform
elementary operations like amputations (directly translated it means
someone who cuts in the field!) and other nessecary first help treatment.

Field marshal is feldherr.
