Regiments of Foreign Volonteers. Most of the 22nd were Jews, 30% Polish Jews. It was probably the same for the 21st. They were formed in Barcares. And I don't know how I could forget a very important source: you will have informations concerning Jews in the French army during WWII by writing to: U.E.V.A.C.J.E.A. (Union des Engages Volontaires Anciens Combattants Juifs 39-45, leurs Enfants et Amis): union-des-engages-volontaires@wanadoo.fr They have a Revue "Notre volonte" where it may be possible (?) to ask if somebody met your cousin.
