I have been working with a researcher in Prague who has been looking
for my great great grandparents' graves. He reports that the Old
Jewish Cemetery in Liben, which apparently dates >from the 17th
Century through the late 19th century, was covered over by the
Communists and is now "overwhelmed" in his words, which I think
means overgrown or over run >from the photos he has sent. There are
no records of who is buried here, he says, but we assume
this is where my ancestors would be buried. Liben is now a part
of greater Prague.Does anyone know if there is any project underway
to restore or document this cemetery?
We had a wonderful experience finding our great grandparents'
grave in Vienna at the Old Jewish Cemetery, thanks to the work
of Verein Shalom and their terrific computerized database.
