Need Information

I am researching the Bensman family. The family lived at least >from the
1800's in Lepel,Belarus. It has been suggested that the family may have
lived in an earlier period in Benzingerode,Germany.

The town exists on maps of Germany,but I have not been able to locate any
information on its history.

I would appreciate any help.
