Ava Sweeney asked if anyone had heard of "Dembova Buda in Suwalk"
A search in JewishGen's ShtetlSeeker http://www.jewishgen.org/ShtetlSeeker/loctown.htm for Dembova gives two Dambava in today´s Lithuania. (would any SIGger know if Buda has a geographical meaning? ) One is about 6 miles E NE of Marijampole - coordinates 5436 2333. - and according to www.mapquest.com it is very small. Mapquest shows the place marked with a red star, no name, near a crossroads. This is the link >from ShtetlSeeker in JewishGen to Mapquest for this first Dambava: http://www.jewishgen.org/cgi-bin/mapquest.pl?&lat=546000&lng=235500 The other Dambava is on the road >from Siauliai to Panevezys, about 45 miles N of Kaunas, and further away >from Suwalki (in today's Poland, near the Lithuanian border and Marijampole). Ava, maybe since you are researching "Lasdaisky >from ? Suwalk" you will be tempted to look at a "place in the neighbourhood": The first Dambava is about 15 miles north of Lazdijai (Lazdiyay, Lazdyyay) , pronounced by my late father approximately like "lass-day". Probably some people coming >from Lazdijai would have taken the name Lasdaisky. Hope this helps, Carlos GLIKSON Buenos Aires, Argentina Searchingfor: GLIKSON, GLICKSON, GLUCKSOHN, GLUECKSOHN (Suwalki, Marijampole, Augustow, Sejny, Sopotkin, Koenigsberg) -/- ALPEROVICH, ALPEROWICZ (Kremenchug, Vilnius) -/- POKROISKY, POKROJSKI, POKROY (Suwalki, Seirijai) -/- HOLLANDERSKY, HOLLENDERSKI, HOLLANDER (Suwalki,Seirijai, Lomza) -/- TARNOPOLSKY, TARNOPOL (Kremenchug, Kharkov) -/- FELCHINSKY (Kremenchug, Vilnius) -/- KARP (Grodno) -/- GOLUMBIEWSKY, GOLOMB (?) -/- KRASNAPOLSKY(?) -----
