Re: Birth Certificate #general

My Dad, born in NYC in 1907, could not find his BC
recorded, or filed, anywhere some 15 years later when
he went to apply for "working papers".

Both of his parents were born in NY, spoke English
as their primary language, and were well enough off
that Dad was born in a hospital. Yet, no records to be

Dad had to fill out a BC form in his own handwriting
and bring either one, or both of his parents along to
attest to his birth date and age. The upshot is, records
DO get lost, or are totally misfiled 'who' knows where.
