Re: Craig's question about "BEJLIS, Baileys, Jewish traitor.
Please refer to the movie "The Fixer" and the Bernard Malamud novel on
which it is based. It starred the late Dirk Bogarde and Allan Bates.
Beilis was wrongfully accused and imprisoned by the Tsarist court system
in the Kiev area. He was a poor, Jewish tradesman prosecuted by Bogarde
on a trumped up charge, and eventually freed.
Unlike Dreyfus, Beilis was a common person, not a high level,
super-patriotic officer in the French Army, who was used as a scapegoat
for a high-level spy conspiracy. Freed >from imprisonment on Devil's
Island, he eventually exonerated and reinstated.
