Dear all,

Boris Feldblyum lists in his book "Russian-Jewish Given Names" the male
given name Lazl as a derivation of Eliezer just as Alexander Kott presumed.
Mr Feldblyum though also list another simililar-looking name, Lazal, which
he says is derived >from Yekusiel.
So, there seems to be two main possibilities for the origin of the male
given name Lazel.
