Kozian #general

Randy Daitch <shtetls@...>

The town of Kozian was known before World War II as Koziany, and was
located in Wilno province. It's contemporary name is Kozyany and is
located in Vitebsk Oblast, 18 kilometers (11 miles) southeast of Vidzy
(Widze), and 55 kilometers (34 miles) south of Daugavpils (Dvinsk). It
is situated at latitude-longitude 5532n 2930e. Stories of survivors who
fought in the forests surrounding Koziany can be found (in Hebrew) in the
Yizkor books for Druya and Braslav. A couple of my father's second cousins
fought in this forest (the name of the family was RUKSZYN).
