The name is Hebrew, not Yiddish or Ladino. It is a feminine form (in
the manner of "Josepha" for "Joseph") for the verb form "Yadin",
meaning "He Judges", where "He" refers to the Deity".

Does it have anything to do with chicken?

There is no obvious connection with chicken, either in the coop or on
the table.
