I want to obtain a state marriage certificate for a relative in France.
I have an approximate year of marriage (1913) but I live in England.
Are there any genners out there in France who can tell me how I could go
about ordering such a document.

1- In France there are no centralized file for birth, marriage or death. If
you want to obtain a marriage certificate, you must know where it took
place.
2- We have a 100 years law for these documents. That means that for a
marriage in 1913 you will not obtain (unless you are a rightful party) a
complete certificate, but only an abstract without the name of the parents.
To obtain it, you must write to the Town Hall of the place where the
wedding was celebrated.
