Claire Bruell wrote, and I have her permission to quote: <Saw your last
posting. [re ASCHKENES tree and the link to BERGER of Leipnik]. My BERGER
ggrandparents lived in Wallachisch Meseritch [Val.Mezirici] but the family
moved there >from Hranice [Weisskirchen]. I also have information that great
great grandfather
Joseph BERGER headed the Yeshivah at Leipnik. Family talk has it that
he studied under the famous talmudic teacher, Baruch FRANKEL there.
Please keep me in the loop if you discover any connections with the BERGER>.

This is all I know re the ASCHKENES-BERGER link:

Isak ASCHKENES of Kostel [1770-1831] had three sons:

1. Simon ASCHKENES I, born 1804 married Feigele ?
2. Abraham ASCHKENES married Anna BERGER >from Leipnik. Abraham was probably
born abt 1810
3. Solomon ASCHKENES born 1814. A Jewish judge in Kostel. He witnessed the
birth certificate that started all this! He married Sofie GRAF.

Simon I is the gt-gt grandfather of our Sigger, Hans Weigl. Simon I was
tragically killed by lightening before his son, Simon II was born on June 16th
1828.

Abraham had three girls and two boys linked to: Husbands: SAX LOWY BENEDICT
Wives: SACHS MANDL respectively.

Solomon ASCHKENES is the grandfather of Pauline ASCHKENES [holocaust victim]
who married Moritz WENGRAF of Krems [Wolf-Erich Eckstein's tree].
