Re: unlikely event #general

Jacqueline Lerner-Aderman asked. do you believe in fate?

My friend William J... moved >from Buenos Aires, Argentina, to a little
place near London. On his first free week-end he took the train to the
city. He suddenly had a terrible tooth pain while on the train. When he
got to London, he rushed to a phone booth to look for a dentist in the
phone book.

Who could he choose? He chose the first dentist with a Jewish surname and
an address close to the station, obviously! He phoned and explained why he
was calling - and the reasons for the choice. The dentist found the
explanation amusing, said that was his home address, indicated him another
address - distant >from the station - and said he would meet him there in
30 minutes.

After solving the dental urgency, the moment came to enter the personal
information in the fiche. So the dentist asked.

"What was your name, again?". Willy gave his full name and the dentist
stopped writing. Willy noticed and asked what happenned. The dentist said:

"That's funny! If you were German, your name would be Wilhelm J., just
like my uncle."

Willy asked two questions.. The third one was "Could I use your phone?".
He phoned Buenos Aires, and before giving the earset to the dentist, he
said:

"Daddy, you've been living in Buenos Aires for the last 40 years,
frequently wondering about the fate of part of the family. I think you
would like to meet your first cousin on the phone."

Best wishes on our journey, for all of us
