The Jewish Genealogical Society of the Conejo Valley and Ventura County's program is Sunday, December 8, 2019 1:30-3:30 PM at Temple Adat Elohim 2420 E Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks. Light refreshments will be available. Come celebrate with us! This is our annual meeting and Chanukah party with valuable genealogical prizes—those who join or renew for 2020 by or at this meeting, and are at the meeting are eligible for their names to be drawn for one of a dozen valuable gifts.

 

Program: FamilySearch Historical Collections: Tips and Tricks

 

Join David Rencher, Director, Family History Library and Chief Genealogical Officer for Family Search share tips and tricks to searching record collections in FamilySearch. Learn new techniques for searching the collections, compiled genealogies and the Library Catalog.

 

Speaker:  David Rencher, AG®, CG®, FUGA, FIGRS, is employed as the Director, Family History Library and Chief Genealogical Officer for FamilySearch. A professional genealogist since 1977, he is one of the rare few who have earned both credentials: Accredited Genealogist® with ICAPGen in Ireland research and Certified Genealogist® with the Board for Certification of Genealogists. He is a past-president of the Federation of Genealogical Societies.

Elections:  The Nominating Committee recommended 4 current board members to be reelected:

Andrea Massion

Israel “Issie” Perel.

 

At the November meeting one additional member self-nominated from the floor and was accepted:

Tammy Williams-Anderson

 

Elections were then closed. The bylaws permit 6 to 12 elected members. Therefore, the election will be for the five members by acclimation.

 

Directions:

Take 101 Freeway - exit Rancho Road in Thousand Oaks, go north (if coming from the west, cross Thousand Oaks Blvd ) to E. Hillcrest Drive turn right on E. Hillcrest go about 1.3 miles (just east of Conejo School Road) Temple is on the right. There are approximately 75 parking spots within the complex. There is no parking on Hillcrest Drive . You may park in the complex or on any of the side streets.

 

Membership: We have started our 2020 Membership renewal and joining campaign. Membership forms are available at the meeting and on our website, https://www.jgscv.org/membership.html . Anyone may join JGSCV. Annual dues are $25 for an individual and $30 for a family.  Dues increase January 1st by $5.00 so renew/join now!
