Thank you all for your responses to my query about the 'other' Riga.

from all the responses I received, I have deduced that there IS only one

Riga - in Latvia.
However the country Riga is in was previously classed as Russia.
The surnames my family used were: Schneider, Myers, Goldstein and Milner.
