I recently met a new cousin, and to my amazement discovered that his
father's name was Elias, which was also my grandfather's name. So, this
means that my great-uncle, Samuel, named his son the same name as his living
brother, Elias. They were Ashkenazi Jews >from Galicia, and according to my
meager understanding, children were not named after living relatives.
Someone told me that there must have been an ancestor named Elias, but if
anyone can shed any other light on this, I would be very appreciative.
