Re: Yiddish translation #belarus

Dear Geners:

I want to thank all of you who graciously replied to my query about help in
Yiddish translation of my postcards, and the Yiddish word for Austria.
When my great-grandfather wrote "Brody Bangasse" as a return address, I
thought Bangasse meant Austria. As I learned >from fellow Genners,
Bangasse does *not* mean Austria. This, then, is the word that I am not
sure of its meaning. I searched in Google, 'Bangasse', and it is a place
in Africa. Can anyone out there guess what my ggrandfather meant, when he
wrote this? I know he lived in Brody, Austria (now Ukraine), and I'm just
baffled about this word. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
Katie Sobol
