I have obtained more information about my TANNENHOLZ family that I wanted
to share in hopes of finding a connection. My gggrandfather was Louis
(Leib) TANNENHOLZ who was born about 1853, either in Belarus or Lithuania.
He immigrated to America around 1873. I have yet to locate a death record.
His wife was Mary (Miriam) FRIEDMAN (1853-1906) daughter of Frank (Ephraim)
and Jennie FRIEDMAN. She immigrated around 1873 and died July 25, 1906. She
is buried in Washington Cemetery under the Chebrah Poel Zedek Anschei Illia
society >from Ilya, Belarus.
1) Their son Frank (Ephraim) was born in New York City in 1874 and died in
1951. He married Dora SIEGEL (1880-1944), daughter of Abraham Rubin SIEGEL
and 1st wife, Etta Bella LIEBEWITZ/LIEBOWITZ >from Karklenai, Lithuania, on
March 1, 1908 at Chevrah T'hillim Crown of Israel at 256 Thatford Ave.,
Brooklyn, by Rabbi Wolf ROSENSON. They are buried in Beth David Cemetery
under the Chevra Agudas Bnei Kodesh Anshei Kroz society, >from Kraziai,
Lithuania. Their infant son is buried in Washington Cemetery under the same
2) Their daughter Betsy (Bess)was born in New York City in 1878. On January
1, 1899, she was married to A.E. HARRISON, son of Henry HARRISON at Chevra
Eitz Chaim Anshei Wolozin (Volozhin, Belarus), 209 Madison St., Manhattan,
by Rabbi Abram MELTZER. They lived in the Bronx.
3) Their daughter Lena was born in New York City in October 1879. On
February 16, 1902, she was married to Israel SIEGEL, son of Isaac SIEGEL
and Lena KAPLOWITZ at Beth Haknesseth Poel Zedek Anschei Illia, 126
Forsyth St., Manhattan, by Rabbi Ike KAMINSKY. They lived in Manhattan.
