Almost any Russia area name ending -ko (-ka for women)
is a diminutive. Nisko probably came >from Nisan.

Tanya is mostly a secular name-used by Russian women.
Often women did not have a Hebrew name, only a Yiddish
or Slavic one.
I'd like to support Sally Bruckheimer's observation regarding name Tania
and just to add that name Tania (Tanya) originates >from name Tatiana
(Tatyana). Refer to the heroine name of A. Pushkin romantic poem, and
based on this poem, classical Russian repertoire opera "Eugene Onegin".
