Possible original spelling could be KAVUSHANSKIJ
Reb Yisroel Yakov was my pgggf
Isaac/Jacob b. about 1859 in Kishinev was my pggf. He died Aug. 1906 in
Chicago, Il . At the time of his death he was living at 355 Maxwell St. He
was a store keeper (possibly a grocer).
He was survived by his wife Ethel (Yetta/Etta) ACHENBLUT (any spelling).
She died in Chicago on April 17, 1931. She was about 66 years old. She
came >from Soroki near Kishinev. She may have been born in Kishinev.
The informant on her death certificate was SAMUEL D. HACKEN living at 3527
W Van Buren, Chgo.I am assuming that some Achenblut's changed their name
to Hacken. It makes very good sense. At the time of her death she was
living at 1141S Springfield Av. Chicago, Il.
They had 9 children, some of which were born in Kishinev and the rest in
Abe b 1884 d 1923, was married to Mollie Molshansky/Molshavsky
Sam was married to Sadie ?
Bessie was married to Adolph Kohler
Rebecca was married to Abe Jacobs
Sarah was married to Harry Freed/Fried
David (my pgf) was married to Florence Marks
Henrietta was married to Irving Covan
Mildred was married to Jack Seigal
Rose b. 1903 was married to Jack Kramer & Charles Cohen
All the children and spouses are now deceased.
In 1918, their son Dave changed the family name to KOVIN, but I understand
that some kept the KOVISHANSKY name.
