Jews from Austria and Germany in the British Army WW2 #general

Abuwasta Abuwasta

It is worth remembering that some of the German
speaking immigrants to Palestine in 1938-9 came from
Germany and Austria. After 1941 some of them joined
the British Army. Many were in non combat units but some
even put their German knowledge into practice.
One of my newly dicovered relatives the late Bernard
KOENIGSBUCH arrived in Palestine in 1939 from
Herne,Germany not before he managed to put 2 of his
young cousins >from Hamburg on the Kindertransport. He
joined the British Army as a truck driver on the line
between Palestine and Egypt.
I believe no book will be complete without looking at
this direction as well.
