I am trying to verify the claim (on an unreliable Belarus website) that a president of B-G University some years ago was originally
from Lyakhovichi in Belarus.
According to this source, his family name was Tukachinsky (more or less), but was changed to something shorter in Israel.
Does anybody in the group know about this man, or even where one can find a reliable list of B-G U's past presidents?

Perhaps you are thinking of Yosef Tekoa? That is the only president of BGU whose name is even close to what you have written. Yosef had also been a golden-tongued Israeli ambassador to the UN, if I am not in error.
