The Church of Latter-Day Saints usually microfilms all the records available
to them once they have obtained the permission >from the government. So it
could well be that the records were not available.
I have what is probably a naive question. I've recently been looking at
some microfilms that I ordered that are vital records >from Europe - in my
particular case they are in Hungary and Slovakia.
For a given town the Mormon library might have, for example, births from
1855 to 1885 and marriages >from 1888 until 1904.
Does this mean that vital records outside of those date ranges are not
available? Or does this mean that those are merely the records that the
Mormons obtained and if I were to contact the archives directly, there
would be many other vital records not on the films?
Thanks for the help.
