JGSofMI Program - Sunday, April 11th #general

Marc D. Manson <mdmcousa@...>

Sunday, April 11, 2004 at 2:00 pm
Adat Shalom Synagogue
(Middlebelt Rd. between 13 Mile & Northwestern)

The JGS of Michigan would like you to join us as our members,
Barbara and Gerald Cook, tell us what they found on their
recent trip to the Ukraine. Jerry traveled to the small
villages of Zhivotiv, Tetiev, and Zashkiv where he
went to the remains of Jewish cemeteries, to the old Jewish
sections and visited with some of the remaining Jews living
there today. Then Barbara will take us with her to Kiev,
where she met with Jewish college students, Hillel
activists and Zionist Youth Groups as a delegate >from
Federation's Israel and Overseas Committee. She worked with
Meals on Wheels and other Senior Citizens
programs on behalf of Federation to help the Jewish community there.
Hear about the extreme contrasts between the farming
communities that haven't changed much since our grandparents
left and the modern city of Kiev. Their story and
photos are an adventure that shouldn't be missed!

Members and Guests are welcome to this exciting event.
