An excellent source for translation of documents is "Following the Paper
Trail: A Multilingual Translation Guide", by Jonathan Shea and William
Hoffman, published by Avotaynu.
I personally own the 1994 Edition and have been able to translate the column
headings, dates, etc. on Polish documents.
However, I understand there is a newer updated version.
Either volume is a great resource.

A friend has just loaned me "A Translation Guide to 19th-Century
Polish-Language Civil-Registration Documents" by Judith R. Frazin. It seems
to be a good guide, but specifies that it spans only the time period of
1808-1867. I was wondering how it compared with the book you've mentioned
above as well as "In Their Words: A Genealogists Translation Guide --
Polish" and "In Their Words: A Genealogists Translation Guide -- Russian".
