The Jerusalerm Conference - Thanks to the Organizers! #general
I wish to express my appreciation and thanks to Chana Furman, Daniel
Wagner, Jean-Pierre Stroweis, Eitan Shilo and all the other wonderful volunteers
who contributed to the success of the 24th IAJGS International Conference on
Jewish Genealogy in Jerusalem. It has enriched my knowledge of Jewish Genealogy
more than anything during the past 7 years I am involved in Jewish genealogy.
Special thanks to Steve Morse who gave us all, free of charge, One-Step
Search Tools, a Searching Engine which I shall implement soon for all my databases.
Alexander Beider's lecture on Search of Etymologies of Jewish Surnames was
fascinating and certainly stimulated me to study more about this subject.
It was rather difficult to chose the lecture >from the program which offered
sometimes most interesting lectures at the same time.
Quite by chance I found myself on Thursday afternoon, sitting at the video
room, to see the most moving commended documentary of an Orthodox humanist,
Mencahem Daum: "Hiding and Seeking".
As I drove myself out of beautiful Jerusalem, by the end of this special
week, I found myself singing the unforgettable song of the poet Zelda:
"Everyone has a Name" ...
words of which then have ahd a new meaning ...
I thank again the organizers and volunteers who made the Jerusalem 24th
IAJGS International Conference on Jewish Genealogy a fantastic success.
