I find it especially confusing, genealogically, to
deal with late life Galician marriage registrations -
how do you record a 'legal' marriage of a couple in
their 50's or 60's who have 5 or 10 children and are
already grandparents? I usually just list a guessed
year of Jewish marriage in my family tree and ignore
the 'legal' one, unless it is the rare case (in my
family at least) where the 'legal' marriage is
actually >from a young couple who have not yet had
