According to my research, my grandfather, Jacob SEGAL and his brother, Max SEGAL,
both give their hometown as "Jarulewro" on certain American records, such as
census and immigration applications. They arrived in the USA >from Czarist Russia
I cannot find this town listed on the JewishGen "Shtetlseeker" search engine,
however, not even using the "Daitch-Mokotoff Soundex." And a "Google" search did
not turn up a single clue, either.
Almost certainly, my grandfather and his brother had come >from somewhere that had
been part of the "Grand Duchy of Lithuania" during Czarist times, as they were
very proud of being Litvaks.
Any ideas? All assistance will be much appreciated.
