Rachelle Berliner asks about HARRIS >from Poland. I would doubt very much that the
surname was Harris in Poland - more likely to have been changed to that
(retrospectively) when they emigrated.
I've come across Harrises in Scotland who were previously: CHOUK, CHARLAP,
BOOBLICK, MLAWSKI, CWI etc
The name Harris also occurs in Scotland as an immigrant Jewish first name, often
for someone called Tzvi or Hirsch.
