TATCH Louis died 1961It's possible that he never had a Social Security account. There was a time not so long ago when only employed persons had such accounts; he might have been self-employed even at the date when accounts became obligatory. It is also conceivable that, although he had an account, nobody reported his death to the SSA. But this is not necessarily a problem for you. You can wrote to the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services (I seem to remember that this is how it is called), Trenton NJ, or look up its email address on the NJ State Government website, and order a death certificate for the man. There is an order form on the site that you can fill in. I think they now require evidence of some sort that you are related to him, or have another valid reason to have the information contained in the death certificate. There is, of course, a reasonable charge for the cearch, per year searched. But you already know the year. I have ordered and received one such document >from them. Its information unlocked for me a mystery of several years standing. -- Stan Goodman, Qiryat Tiv'on, Israel Searching: NEACHOWICZ/NOACHOWICZ, NEJMAN/NAJMAN, SURALSKI: >from Lomza Gubernia ISMACH: >from Lomza Gubernia, Galicia, and Ukraina HERTANU, ABRAMOVICI, LAUER: >from Dorohoi District, Romania GRISARU, VATARU: >from Iasi, Dorohoi, and Mileanca, Romania See my interactive family tree (requires Java 1.1.6 or better). the URL is: http://www.hashkedim.com For reasons connected with anti-spam/junk security, the return address is not valid.
