Hi,
In the New York City deaths I've researched, the place of burial is
listed on the death certificate. I will then go to the New York City
Archives site and follow the links to the deaths where I can order a
certificate for about $12.00.

Also, for New York City deaths you might try the Italian Genalogical
Group. They have an excellent database which is not limited to Italians
by any means. You can find the certificate number there and date of
death, if you didn't have it before.
