The May/June 2004 issue of Public Libraries, a publication of the Public
Library Association, featured an article entitled "Providing Genealogy
Research Services in Public Libraries." The article specifically mentions
the Palm Beach County (Florida) Library System's Genealogy Research website
and electronic email services, staffed by two professional research
According to the article, the PBCLS staff will respond at no charge and
usually within 24 hours to requests for "locator searches" for current and
deceased residents of Palm Beach County, using archival city directories,
the Florida Death Index, local cemetery directory records, and the indexes
and microfilm of three South Florida newspapers.
