Finding Home
In the Footsteps of the Jewish Fusgeyers
presented by Jill Culiner

Join the author of the incredible story of Romanian Jews who crossed
Europe on foot (fusgeyers is the Yiddish word for 'foot-goers' —
wayfarers). In groups sometimes numbering 200-300, they walked >from
Romania to the ports of Germany in order to escape anti-Semitism and
emigrate to America. In 2005, this book won the Joseph and Faye
Tanenbaum Prize in Jewish History >from the Canadian Jewish Book Award
Committee. Ms. Culiner is a professional photographer and consummate
traveller who divides her time between Toronto, Hungary and France. She
currently is preparing an exhibition (with texts) about the Hungarian
Holocaust — the ghettos and the vanished synagogues — that will be shown
in Budapest at the Holocaust Museum.
