In researching "Lerner" family
I've come across leads about where my paternal
grandparents might be buried

In contacting several New York cemeteries, including
Bayside, I've not been able to glean information.
typical responses I get are:
"when did this person die?" "I'll get back to you."
then I followup (perhaps a week or two later)
or... they simply are asking (indirectly) for a
donation to do the search, which evidently is or can
be time consuming.

It is difficult, I'll admit, >from 3,000 miles away
to determine the best course of action.
