The Jewish Genealogy Society of the Conejo Valley and Ventura County (JGSCV)
is co-sponsoring a two-part genealogy lecture series with and the Conejo
Jewish Academy as part of the Winter Session of the Adult Education Program
of the Chabad of the Conejo, featuring Werner L. Frank, on two consecutive
Monday evenings: January 16 and January 23 8:00 PM. There is no charge to
attend the meetings. The Academy would appreciate your RSVP in order to plan
for the expected attendance. In order to RSVP please either e-mail me at
president@... or call the Academy at the phone at 818-991-0991.

The first lecture is " The Genealogist's Crowning Achievement: Recording His
Legacy". Werner has published a meticulously researched family history:
"Legacy: The Saga of a German-Jewish Family Across Time and Circumstance".
Werner amassed a database of over 30,000 names extending back to the 13th
century, made possible connecting to a rabbinic dynasty. The creation of the
book will be discussed along with some of the incredible discoveries in
conducting research in ancestral towns and specialized libraries in Germany,
Israel and the United States.

The second lecture is "Jewish Royalty: The Role of Rabbinic Dynasties in
Extending One's Genealogy". Chances are that you are a descendent of a well
known rabbinic leader. Or, you may discover such a tie after pursuing some
genealogical research. If such a rabbinic
connection can be made, you may be able to trace your origin to the middle
ages.

Werner L. Frank is a founding member of the JGSCV and its newsletter editor,
"Venturing Into Our Past". Werner has been researching his family's history
since 1996. He participated in launching GERSIG on the Internet, the German
Special Interest Group of JewishGen,
Inc., and has written for Stammbaum, Maajan and Avotaynu.
