Re: born in Austria, Poland, Hungary #general

My apologies for bad history!

I've looked again at the census returns for this family for 1900- 1930
and now I see that in 1900 they came >from Austria, in 1910 they came
from Russia and in 1920 and 1930 they came >from Germany.
Most interesting. In today's world they are >from Kamanetz-Podolska,

One family related to mine came to the U.S. in the 1890s. The 1900
census says they were >from Austria, but everything else says they were
from Ukraine.
I wondered why they lied at the beginning, but then learned that
Ukraine, or at least part of it, was indeed under the Austro-Hungarian
Emperor at that time.
