Re: obtaining birth certificates #general

Does anyone know how to obtain a certified copy of a birth certificate
from New York City more quickly if you live out of state? There's no
telephone number to call (only an automated line) and they don't respond
to email questions either. Do the various services which claim to issue
birth certificates act more rapidly and do they provide a certified
copy?
Thanks for your help.

My experience is that if you mail a request, along with your check and you
provide the certificate number, you will receive the certificate within 2 to
3 weeks. I am out of state and that has proved to be irrelevant.

If you do not provide the certificate number, add a week or two to the time,
assuming you know the date of birth.
