JGSO: Mark Your Calendars - May 21st Annual Brunch #general

Ronald D. Doctor <rondoctor@...>

Each year the Jewish Genealogical Society of Oregon (JGSO) replaces the
normal monthly program meeting with a Brunch. We invite you, your
family, and friends to our 2006 Annual Brunch. Our speaker is Emily
Aucilino. She will introduce us to Genetic Genealogy ... using DNA
testing to assist your family history research.

Genetic Genealogy, DNA and YOU
Presented by Emily D. Aulicino

Date: SUNDAY, May 21, 2006
Time: 10:30 am to 1:00 pm
Place: Chabad Center, 6684 SW Capitol Hwy.
(across >from MJCC)

Emily runs the DNA testing project of the Genealogical Forum of Oregon.
She holds monthly meetings at which interested genealogists can learn
about DNA testing, and she has given many talks about Genetic Genealogy.
She will provide us with a basic understanding of Genetic Genealogy and
of how DNA testing can aid traditional genealogical research. She has
made a special effort to gather information about Jewish aspects of DNA
testing. As a special bonus, Emily will raffle off a free DNA test kit.
This has a value of $99 to $129 value and is either a 12 marker Y-DNA
test or a HVR1 mtDNA test. There is no cost for a raffle ticket. The
only stipulation is that if you wish to join the raffle, you also must
agree to join the International Society of Genetic Genealogists (ISOGG).
There is no cost for membership in the Society.

NOTE that our Brunch meeting will be held at the Chabad Center, not at
our usual meeting place. And, the Brunch is on Sunday. Our regular
monthly meeting on Wednesday will not occur this month.

There is a $5 fee for the Brunch, payable at the door. Please let Sandra
Shapiro know if you plan to attend, so that we can be sure to have
enough food and beverages available for all attendees. Contact Sandra by
e-mail (sgshapiro@...) or telephone (503-694-5646).

To be placed on JGS of Oregon's e-mail distribution list, send an e-mail
message to rondoctor@.... Once you are on the list, you will
receive periodic messages concerning Jewish genealogy. Your name and
e-mail address will not be distributed outside of JGS of Oregon.
