A book just crossed my desk that I thought I should let you know about:
_Journey to a Nineteenth-Century Shtetl: The Memoirs of Yekhezkel
Kotik. Edited with an Introduction and Notes by David Assaf_. Detroit:
Wayne State University Press, 2002.
The dust jacket blurb states this memoir was first published in Yiddish
in Warsaw in 1913. This is the first English translation of volume 1 of
the memoirs, which discusses the author's experiences growing up in
Kameniec Litewski (Kamenets Litovsk). The author was born in 1847 and
died in 1921, so this book covers the middle 19th-century.
I have no financial interest in the book, I just thought people in this
group might be interested since I've seen a lot of posts over the years
on this shtetl.
