There is a website with free facial recognition called www.riya.com .
It requires upload of pictures which can then be made public or private.
Additionally it can recognize text in photos, and photos can be searched by
person, text, location, date, with new additions popping up all the time
(object recognition). The text recognition is now only Latin letters, but
the potential to use this technology with documents and gravestones is
immense. I have requested adding non-Latin alphabets to the site (e.g.,
Hebrew), which I think would be very beneficial to those of us who
routinely work with photos and scanned documents.
