Recently I posted about the surname of the Israeli president; Moshe KATZAV.
Schelly Talalay Dardashti, who is familiar with Persian Jewish research
tells me that KATZAV was originally GHASSEB, which is Farsi for butcher and
the family surname when they lived in Yazd, Iran. KATZAV is the Hebraicized
version of the surname, adopted after Aliya to Israel.
Schelly is traveling and is having a technical problem with posting this
herself and has given me permission to post this information.
